Revenge of the Read-Along!

It seems like every time I put up a new post, I’m saying “We’re back from our months-long hiatus!”, and I’m doing it again this week: HEY GUYS, WE’RE BACK FROM OUR MONTHS-LONG HIATUS! With Robin finally back from school, and with a bit of a…podcaster’s block, we’ve decided to start up another read-along! The last one was loads of fun, and nobody told us they hated it, so it’s time for Read-Along 2: Electric Boogaloo.

    you know, i think I have each of the ones you picked Cyna. Definitely have RED QUEEN and SPHINX’S PRINCESS. I was interested in reading either of those, so I have them in my “to keep for now” pile. And I can check the spreadsheet for PRINCESS OF THORNS.

    <3 So what I'm sayin' is, if you do RQ or SP, I have it and can join you. If PoT, I will look and–if I have it–will join you. ^_^ <3

      Well I think it’s clear now that you guys should all vote for one of my books, OR start a GoFundMe if one of Robin’s books is chosen so that we can get a copy for Ollie and she can come back and read it with us.

      THOSE ARE OUR ONLY OPTIONS NOW.

        new poll:
        * Red Queen
        * Sphinx's Princess
        * GoFundMe something else so Ollie can come back and be a jerk about books and talk over everyone and have VERY MANY OPINIONS especially about FEMINISM and LACK OF DIVERSITY and LGBT REPRESENTATION!

      Did you vote Ollie? And if so, was it for one of Cyna’s or one of mine? Which book does your heart desire? 🙂

        Red Queen. I have it and have been curious about how it will be awful.

    I picked The Girl of Fire and Thorns because the book actually called the princess the Chosen One. Not in the ironic or funny way either, it’s supposed to be taken seriously. It might be good, but the princess couldn’t be called something better, like the flame seeker?

    Red Queen would be my second pick since it sounds so bad. It seems like something that would’ve come out during the dystopian craze.

      My nine-year-old sister just moved in with me so I’ve been watching a lot of Nick/Disney. She’s into this show, Every Witch Way. The protagonist is a “special witch” called the Chosen one. Your comment made me think of that. Hopefully the book has more substance than that tv series.

    Robin’s picks: Hey these might actually be interesting to read c:
    Cyna’s picks: All of these are probably going to be slow torture c:

    Wow I don’t know what to choose. obviously I’m going for one of Cyna’s picks because I’m a sadist like that, while Robin’s picks are probably books I’d look into reading.

    So I say Red Queen, Followed by Sphinx’s Princess.

    Also something to note about Esther M. Friesner is that she’s the Editor/Writer of some books of/in a series called “Chicks in Chainmail” *shiver*. That sounds like grade A quality right there. https://www.goodreads.com/series/50584-chicks-in-chainmail

      I don’t know if anyone realizes, but every time I’ve picked a book–even when I picked one that sounds good–Ollie and Cyna ripped its beating heart out and left its bloody entrails on the podcast wall, revealing more issues than substance. So, whether you pick mine or Cyna’s picks, I think we’ll have fun tearing things up.

        Maybe you should have a “Sweet or Sadistic” read along :3 pick two books. One from your pile (Sweet?) and one from Cyna’s (Sadistic). Because it looks like everyone wants all the sadistic novels, and those poor Sweet? novels will make it through gates unscathed. >:3

    I’m picking the Girl of Fire and Thorns because I’ve been interested in reading it, but never got around to it. If this book wins, then I have an excuse to read it as well as see the intelligent conversations and breakdowns of it that I know I’ll enjoy! That and none of the other books caught my attention. I tried Falling Kingdoms and got so bored with how generic fantasy it was, and the Red Queen just sounds so bad! And I need a good book to read since I keep grabbing bad books at the local library I work at! And if not Girl of Fire and Thorns, then my second pick is Sphinx’s Princess since it doesn’t sound that bad as the others. Either way, I’m participating in this read-along!

      Hopefully Girl of Fire and Thorns will win for you Ciao Jelly. And I’m not just saying that because it’s the one of my picks I most want to see win. 🙂 And if it does win, hopefully it’s as good a book as you hope. I know that it can be hard to find a good, quality book to read, especially when you want to read one.
