    Great podcast as always!

I’m super glad I didn’t shell out for The Host movie. I was considering it, since I’m reading a book that has a sort of similar subplot to The Host at the moment. (Rick Yancey’s The 5th Wave.)

You know the worst thing? Stephenie Meyer is making a name for herself as a scriptwriter in Hollywood (since her name is now on movie posters for whatever she’s involved with), and they’re writing a script for the movie adaptation of the YA novel Anna Dressed in Blood, which was actually rather good. 🙁

      Thanks for listening, Vanessa!

I heard that The 5th Wave is going to be made into a movie, as well. It won’t have to try hard to be better than The Host. 😀

…wait, are you saying Meyer is writing the script for ADiB? That sounds like a terrible idea! D:

You’re welcome! I’ve been listening since day one. 🙂

Yeah, The 5th Wave has a HUGE marketing campaign behind it. I think somebody had an ARC that said it has $750,000 behind it. O_O

From what I’ve heard, Meyer IS indeed writing ADiB. =_= Seriously. I think she’s blurbed on some editions of the actual book, but I remember seeing her name attached to the project on ONTD. Looking it up again, the news was released in January and she’s ‘developing’ it. *sooobbs*

Oh ffs. Did she even help script any of her movies? What is there to make anyone thing she’d be good at script-writing, aside from the fact that people have made her books into movies? At least Suzanne Collins had experience writing scripts and shit when they had her help adapt Hunger Games.

Nope, IMDB just credits her for the original novels. But yeah… the world is a cruel place, it seems.

I haven’t quite listened to the podcast – thanks so much for making these downloadable, by the way, I’m going on a twenty-five hour roadtrip in July and I really need the snarky entertainment!! 🙂 I went to see the Host and I found it a lot better than Beuatiful Creatures or Twilight, but that wasn’t exactly hard. Some of the parts were ridiculously cheesy, I know, and contrived, and I didn’t like Jared AT ALL… but it was good craic to go with my little sister, who’s a huge fan. And I find Saoirse Ronan to be good in everything – national solidarity, don’t you know? Anyway, of I go to listen… Thank you so much for this!
    (E.T.A: Meyer ‘developing’ ADiB? No!

You are quite welcome! My partner had pointed out that there was no easy-to-spot download button (I guess there’s some teensy tiny one on the player? whatevs, too small) so I am REALLY glad that you are getting some use out of it! 😀 Huzzah! Enjoy the podcast! Also, holy crap, 25 hr road trip >.< Where are you headed?

I was going to take my friend to see this movie, because she likes the Stephanie Meyer books (she’s still cool, though, she does admit they suck) but for some reason I ended up not taking her.
Now I see that reason was a merciful god keeping me away from a godawful movie.

Haha, awesome. I feel the same way about “Movie 43” after I watched some reviews.

Thanks for giving the podcast a listen! 😀

Awesome podcast guys! One problem, though: it kind of bugged me that you couldn’t be bothered looking up the correct pronunciation for Saoirse Ronan’s name, which varies a little from standard pronunciation. It’s Sir-sha, rhyming with inertia.
You brought up a lot of excellent points! I personally felt like the movie improved on the book hugely, but that is not much of a compliment. The action was pretty lackluster and there wasn’t much of a ‘survival’ element to it – I had presumed that would be key. Great podcast! I am looking eagerly forward to many more!

Hey, that one is all on me! I mis-remembered looking it up: I said “Shir-sa”, which is inverting the “s” and “sh” sounds. My mistake! And my apologies!

But yeaaaah, you would have thought the “oh man, we need to survive, and it’s HARD because these aliens have taken over the world; and they’ll TAKE OVER OUR BODIES if they find us doing anything!” would have felt a little more pressing. I think the difference from what I would have expected is perhaps that it was a very “flight” vs. “fight” kind of movie.

      Thanks for listening! 😀

A local free paper did a great review of ‘The Host’: http://www.rochestercitynewspaper.com/rochester/the-host/Content?oid=2208348. There are some wonderfully snarky lines, like “It is so thoroughly awful that it makes those immensely popular flicks look like “Citizen Kane” and “…the males look rather like Good Humor men with routes in an upscale neighborhood”.
