PROBABLY NOTHING.

Anyway, as this is, y’know, an audio podcast, we’ve outlined the whole thing and made our pitches in audio format, which you can listen to here:

Just remember that you’re also going to be torturing yourself, riiiiiiiiiiight?

We might do this again, so you never know, we might end up doing THrone of Glass. Although I guess that would depend on whether or not Robin has the patience to wait xD

I make no promises, especially since I may or may not already have Throne of Glass on hold at my library and waiting to be rescued.

Books need rescued. Haven’t you watched Pagemaster?

What’s ironic, is that I have current possession of Pantomime, right now.

I haven’t even requested Liar, yet.

Well you’re not allowed to read ANY of them until the results are in. Hands off.

*Gapes at the Black Ice description* Between this and Hush, Hush, Fitzpatrick is really good at terrible love interests. I’m voting for it, but I would also recommend Written in Red by Anne Bishop because it had an interesting premise but bad execution (though that’s almost 500 pages and I think you guy would get tired of it).

Since you brought you brought up Mass Effect, have you heard of SF Debris’ analysis/walkthrough of Mass Effect 2? His Shepard is female Commander Shiva Shepard. It ends like you would expect it to end.

Right?!? I have no idea how she like pitched that/got the go ahead to write it because omg does it NOT come off any way but creepy, but who can understand publishing, right?

Oh man, my friend read Written in Red and HATED it, I just sort of steered away after that. Who knows though, I’m always up for a hate read. We’ll keep it in mind next time we do this :3

I have not, I’m not familiar with SF Debris at all. Shiva on Mass Effect 2 though? Not quite sure how he’d go about that.

I vote for whatever the hell was described as ‘yellow peril downton abbey meets the selection’…..

Except for the part where we’re supposed to read along…….

That would be Landry Park. If you vote for it you have to reaaaad itttttttttt. This is the contact you sign when you hit the “vote” button. No takebacks.

Which is probably why an official vote was not cast. I see how Dracon thinks. “I want to tell you how to torture yourself, but I don’t want to torture myself.” We’ll admit we’re masochists, but we enjoy sadism with our masochism.

I wouldn’t have to thoroughly read it, right? I just need to skim it enough to share your pain and rant about how awful it is?

Because I couldn’t even agreed to do that much on the rapey kidnapping book. I deal with the aftermath of that shit at work all the time, I don’t need to pretend it’s sexy when I’m at home.

Aw, nah, you can read along if you like, but we’re not gonna sue if you break the contract. It’s all good.

Oh man this was a hard choice. There are so many things wrong with them, and I’ve heard such terrible things about Becca Fitzpatrick. But I had to go for Throne of Glass because I’ve been headdesking at its premise and the sound of its characters since I found out about it. And since I sort of consider fantasy “my genre” even if I read a lot less of it these days, I feel obligated to critique everything wrong with it.

(Kind of sad Princess of Thorns wasn’t on the list. It seems I hate myself.)

Right? There’s some good stuff on here. Also “good” stuff. Throne of Glass is catching up!

Yeah, I’m sure we’ll get around to Princess of Thorns at some point, we just need to put a little more distance between us and that poor woman’s harassment campaign.

        Yay! …wait that’s the wrong word…

Ah, I’d forgotten she was involved in all that. Definitely for the best.

I chose Liar because I’ve heard good things about it, but haven’t had a chance to read it yet. Delirium got some buzz on the bad book blogosphere a while back, so I’m not too interested in delving into it again. I guess I’d choose Black Ice for my second, just to see how Fitzpatrick has progressed as a writer.

If you do choose Pantomime, this might be helpful: https://www.kno.com/book/details/productId/txt9781908844380?ref=affiliate
